iCloud - How Istoriam Works with iCloud

Istoriam uploads/downloads items to iCloud, one item at a time (i.e., it does not use a file based approach). All types of Records (Events, Notes, and Headings), Filters as well as the Configuration data are synced with iCloud, with the exception of data that can be determined automatically by the application (e.g., filters based on the record tags).

The following conditions need to be true for the application to use iCloud:

  1. iCloud operations are enabled within the application (see "Enabling or Disabling iCloud Operations”)

  2. You have a valid account on iCloud and you are logged into it

  3. You have access to the Internet

If all three conditions are true, the application will upload/download items automatically and transparently to you in the background.

If iCloud operations are not enabled or if you are not logged into a valid iCloud account, the application will not track changes made on your device for the purpose of syncing with iCloud. If iCloud operations are re-enabled later or if you log into a valid account, the full database will have to be uploaded or downloaded, i.e., not only the changes since the last upload or download. If your database is large, that might take some time.

On the other hand, if iCloud operations are enabled and you are logged into a valid iCloud account but access to the Internet is not available, the application will track all changes made on your device and will sync with iCloud once access to the Internet is available again.
